Pricing
What it costs — every step, in plain numbers.
We charge for tutoring, not for sales calls. There's no quote form, no commission-driven phone consultation, no introductory rate that quietly resets after three months. The numbers below are the numbers you'll pay.
Free 30-minute trial · No card needed · Weekly tutoring from £100/month · No lock-in
- Free trial lesson — no card
- £97 optional diagnostic
- Weekly tutoring from £100/month
- No lock-in contracts
- Refund policy in writing
Step 1 · Free trial (£0)
The free trial — 30 minutes, 1-to-1, no card.
Every parent who books with Legacy starts here. A 30-minute online (or in-person where the geography works) 1-to-1 trial lesson with a matched specialist tutor — the same tutor, in most cases, who would teach your child weekly if you decide to carry on. Your child works on a real piece of GCSE material, you both see how the tutor teaches, and within 24 hours the tutor sends you a short written summary covering what they did, what your child handled well, and the specific gaps they spotted.
What we don't ask for: card details, a contract, or a sales call afterwards. If after the trial you'd rather not continue, you don't hear from us again. We'd rather lose a fit that wasn't right than push a parent into months of weekly lessons with the wrong tutor.
- 30 minutes, 1-to-1 with a matched specialist tutor.
- Online by default — in person where geography allows.
- No card required, no commitment, no follow-up sales call.
- Written summary from the tutor within 24 hours.
Step 2 · Diagnostic (£97)
The optional £97 diagnostic — what you actually get for the money.
Some parents book the trial, like the tutor, and start weekly lessons straight away. That's fine — the diagnostic isn't required to begin. Other parents want a deeper picture first, especially if previous tutoring hasn't moved the grade or if the school report is vague. For those parents we built the diagnostic.
For £97 you receive: a written gap analysis across the core GCSE subjects (Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics), an honest read of the grade your child is currently sitting at versus the grade they're realistically working towards, a recommended pace and lesson plan for the next half-term, and a 60-minute specialist deep-dive session on how your child actually learns. Delivery is within 72 hours of booking, walked through with you on a 30-minute call with our founder.
Refund condition is plain English: if, after delivery, you don't feel the report and the specialist session gave you genuine new insight, reply to any email from us within 7 days with the word "refund" and we return the £97 in full, no questions asked. The full text lives on the refund policy page.

Step 3 · Weekly tutoring (from £100 / month)
Weekly tutoring — the typical configurations, with the actual monthly cost.
Weekly 1-to-1 tutoring runs at the same fixed slot each week with the same tutor. The monthly cost depends on how many lessons your child needs (one weekly session is the default; two is common in the run-up to mocks) and how many subjects you're covering. Below are the four configurations roughly nine in ten of our families fall into. Anything outside these — for example one weekly maths lesson plus one weekly English lesson plus combined sciences — we quote on request, using the same per-lesson logic, never marked up.
1 subject · 4 lessons / month
£100 / month
One weekly 1-to-1 lesson with the same specialist tutor.
1 subject · 8 lessons / month
£200 / month
Two weekly lessons in the same subject — typical run-up to mocks.
2 subjects · 8 lessons / month
£200 / month
One weekly lesson in each of two subjects (e.g. Maths + English).
Sciences combined · 8 lessons / month
£220 / month
Two weekly lessons covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics together.
Refund policy
Refund policy — short version, plain English.
The £97 diagnostic carries a 7-day no-questions-asked refund condition: if after we've delivered the report and the specialist session you don't feel it gave you genuine new insight, reply to any email from us within 7 days with the word "refund" and we return the full £97. Every request is actioned within 48 hours; the funds land in your account on Stripe's standard timeline.
Weekly tutoring is billed in advance for each calendar month and can be paused or cancelled with one week's notice ahead of the next billing month. Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours' notice are rescheduled at no cost.
- £97 diagnostic — 7-day refund, no questions, full amount.
- Weekly tutoring — pause or cancel with one week's notice.
- Lessons cancelled with 24+ hours' notice — rescheduled, not charged.
What changes the price
What actually changes the monthly figure.
The four tiers above cover most parents, but it helps to know which dials you're moving when you ask us to adjust the package. None of these come with hidden mark-ups; the per-lesson logic is the same across configurations. We'll always quote the change explicitly before it goes onto an invoice.
- Intensity — one weekly lesson vs two weekly lessons in the run-up to mocks.
- Number of subjects — Maths only, Maths + English, or sciences taken as a combined block.
- Sciences combined vs single science — combined Biology / Chemistry / Physics is priced as one tutoring engagement, not three.
- In-person travel surcharge where applicable — quoted explicitly before you commit, never added later.
- Term length — some families pause over the summer and resume in September; some run all year.
