What your child gets — every week, online or in person.
Three things London families consistently can't find at the price point — and that we deliver as standard, not as a paid upgrade.
A specialist tutor — matched to the subject and the child.
We don't allocate the next available tutor. We match a specialist who teaches that exact subject week in, week out, and whose teaching style fits how your child actually learns. If the chemistry isn't right after the trial we swap the tutor — free, no awkward conversation.
A plan built around the gaps, not the syllabus.
Most London tutoring quietly walks the syllabus end to end — including topics your child already understands. We diagnose first, then plan against the topics actually costing the grade. Lessons sequence around real weak points, not a textbook contents page, which is why families see grade movement faster.
A six-weekly written progress review.
Every six weeks the tutor sends a short written report: what's been covered, what's improved, what's still wobbly, the recommended focus for the next half-term. You see the trajectory in writing, not just 'the lesson went well' — and the founder reviews any flagged report personally.
Areas covered
Where in London we work — in person and online.
Our base is in Uxbridge (UB8). For in-person lessons the catchment is the parts of west London we can reach without the tutor's day collapsing into traffic — broadly speaking, the boroughs within a sensible drive of the Uxbridge HQ. We're deliberately not publishing a hard borough list yet because we'd rather under-promise: if a borough is on the public list, a parent in that borough should be able to expect in-person availability, and we're not there yet for every borough we'd like to be.
Inside the catchment, the default is in-home tutoring — your child works at their own desk, in their own room, with their own notes and books around them. Tutors are DBS-checked and we ask that a parent or another adult is in the house for the lesson; the room is your call.
Outside that catchment, the honest answer is online — and online with us is going to be a better experience than in-person with whoever happens to live two streets away. Most of our London families are online for exactly that reason.
- Base: Uxbridge (UB8). In-person catchment focused on west London.
- Default in-person setup: at home, parent or another adult in the house.
- Outside the in-person catchment: online, same specialist tutors, UK-wide.
- Send your postcode in the trial form — we'll tell you honestly within 24 hours.
In-person availability
In-person tutoring — honest about the catchment.
London is the only city we currently offer in-person tutoring in, and even within London the honest catchment is west London. Within that catchment we work with families weekly at home; outside it, we don't pretend otherwise. The trial form asks for your postcode so the answer can be specific and same-day.
If we can match an in-person tutor for your postcode, the trial lesson is in person too — same setup as the regular weekly lesson, in your home, free, no card needed. If we can't, we'll tell you on the same day and offer online with the same matched specialist instead.
Online option
If we can't reach you in person, online with us isn't a downgrade.
Online with us isn't a downgrade. The lesson runs on a shared interactive whiteboard — your child writes on the same digital page as the tutor in real time, the tutor annotates the working live, and questions don't have to wait a week because the platform supports async messaging between sessions. Recordings of every lesson are available for revision.
If you'd like the full online setup before deciding — equipment, software, safeguarding, the lesson recordings, time-zone flexibility for families who travel — the dedicated online page covers it in detail. Either way, the trial lesson is free and the same tutor would work with your child weekly thereafter.
Local exam boards
Exam boards in London — and how that shapes the tutoring.
There's a slight regional pattern in London: schools here lean a little more towards Edexcel for maths and the sciences than the national average, where AQA tends to be the more common board. That's a small skew, not a rule — a lot of London schools sit AQA or OCR, and once we know your child's specific school we know exactly which board they're on.
What matters is that the past-paper practice your child is doing matches the board they're sitting; we cover all three (AQA, Edexcel and OCR) as standard, and the tutor matches the practice papers to the right board from week one. The shared GCSE content is largely the same across boards — what differs is question style, mark scheme phrasing and topic emphasis, and that's where the board-specific work matters most in the final 6 months before the exams.
